William H. Courtney, age 81, of Greenville, IL passed away Monday, September 23, 2019 at HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville, IL. Services will be held a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Bond County Hospice.

William was born June 7, 1938 in Venice, IL to James Leroy and Cleona (Yates) Courtney. He married Katheryn Hawley and they later divorced. He then married Deann Fisher on May 22, 1976 in Elk Grove Village, IL. He is survived by his wife Deann of Greenville, IL his children Pamela (Dan) Glaeser of Belleville, IL, Jeff Courtney of Troy, IL, Patti (Tony) Elder of Shiloh, IL, Jim (Diane) Courtney of Maryville, IL, Pam (Chuck) VanVleet of South Roxanna, IL, and Steven (Heather) Tackett of Highland, IL. He is also survived by his siblings Virginia Ostresh of Edwardsville, IL, James Leroy Courtney of Bonne Terre, MO, Wanda (Dave) Cawvey of Caseyville, IL, Brenda Wilburn of Troy, IL, George (Lockie) Courtney of Rolla, MO, Allan (Karla) Courtney of Troy, IL, Ronald Courtney of Indiana, and Benjamin (Virginia) Courtney of Chattanooga, TN along with nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Courtney.

He grew up in Madison County, IL and had lived in Pocahontas and Keyesport before moving o rural Greenville in 1996. He had worked as a union carpenter and also owned his own heating and air conditioning service. He was member of the Woodriver Carpenter's Local #664
