Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I will always have fond memories of Bill and the family, all the way back to his Fathers farm near Pleasant Mound. I was lucky to serve on some local committees with Bill & trusted his guidance and direction of whatever task we were working on. I recall listening to the Boy Scout reports on WGEL while he and the troop were sailing in the FL Keys. I now live in Key West FL, the sunsets here will have a new meaning as I will remember Bill when the evening sun touches the gulf of Mexico. With much respect, Matt Willman

  2. I remember Bill back in the 60s and 70s. And what I liked about him the most was his “roots” to Mulberry Grove/ Pleasant Mound. I also have roots there. I have kept up with Bill and his family through a close friend who shared holidays and other events with the Johnson Family. Thank you, Bill, for your civic service to the City of Greenville. Ron Bimes

  3. Tedra & Family-You have my sincere sympathy! You all are in my thoughts and prayers! Love, Phyllis Wasmuth Johnson

  4. Tedra, WingTing, Dan, and Ryan, Margaret – so saddened to hear of Bill's death. He was always such an industrious, vibrant man. Wish I could be there. I know he will be missed. Peggy and Scott Darnell

  5. Bill Johnson, Jerry Nuby, and Dave Smith stood with me when I married Judy Mitchell 53 years ago. All three have remained ” Best Men” throughout the ensuing years. Men, who I knew I could count on if need be, whenever. Bill went on to set records as County Clerk, as a Boy Scout leader, and contributor to the success of the Hill’s Fort Society, while managing a creative family business! Yet, he had time and cared enough to visit us while living in Castle Rick during a trip to Colorado. Bill was a true leader, deep friend, and “Best Man”. May the Lord provide comfort to Tedra and family. Foy and Judy Meyer

  6. DEAR TEDRA & FAMILY, HI, TEDRA. I WISH TO EXTENT HEART-FELT CONDOLENCES ON BILL'S PASSING. I HAVE SUCH WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF YOU & BILL AS MY FELLOW MUSICIAN, FRIEND AND ALL-AROUND GREAT GUY. I JUST KNOW HE KEPT HIS FAMILIAR NATURAL SMILE AS HE MOVED THROUGH THE ORDEAL OF PASSING AND INTO HEAVEN. WE PLAYED SOME FUN GIGS TOGETHER IN THE PARK AND AT DANCES. I OFTEN STOPPED IN HIS OFFICE TO SAY HELLO THE TOO FEW TIMES I'VE BEEN IN G'VILLE OVER THE YEARS. BUT NO MATTER WHERE OR WHEN IT WAS ALWAYS A TREAT TO BE IN HIS PRESENCE. KEEP THE FAITH AND CHEER IN YOUR HEART, MUCH LOVE, JEFF GRAVES PS. PHOTO OF BILL, HOWARD W., ME, SAM BAUER & GORDON H. HAVING FUN JAMMING IN THE PARK JUST FOR FUN, 1959.

  7. My sincere condolences for your loss. Please find comfort in the Bible's promise at Isaiah 26:19, which says, "Your dead will live … and the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." That means that God has promises us that we will see our dead loved ones again. And i hope this helps you in your time of loss.
