Wauneta R. Betscher

Wauneta Betscher, age 80 of Greenville, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at her home north of Greenville. A funeral mass will be celebrated in her honor at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Saturday, May 30th, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at the St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, May 29. Wauneta Ruth, daughter of Clarence Bourquein and Mabel (White) Bourquein, was born in Harrison, OH on June 12, 1934. She married John Joseph Betscher on June 9, 1956 in Harrison. They have enjoyed 59 years together. John survives as do their five children: John M. Betscher of Decatur, IL; Anne Betscher of Greenville; Paul Betscher of University City, MO; Susan (Duane) Peterson of Peoria, IL; and Josie McGrory of Denver, CO. She is also survived by her brother Willard Bourquein of Harrison, OH and her sister-in-law Marilyn Bourquein of Harrison, OH and her aunt Ruth Darling of Lawrenceburg, IN. Wauneta was the loving grandmother of 12: Maggie (Mickey) Chabak, Julie (Eric) McClelland, Natalie (Kyle) Orne, Morgan, Jeff, and Colton Betscher, Joseph and Daniel Baumberger, Mary, Claire, and Tom Peterson, and Hannah McGrory. Wauneta grew up in Harrison, OH and earned a BS in Education from Ohio State University. She taught kindergarten in Columbus, OH and special education at Greenville Elementary School. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, serving as treasurer of the Ladies' Society and on numerous committees throughout the years. She was a member of the Greenville Shakespeare Club, the Tuesday Bridge Club, the Bond County Retired Teachers, the Hospital Auxiliary, and the Friends of the Library. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember planting flowers with her at John's house. She shared his work ethic and sense of humor… a lovely lady.
My sympathy and prayers to the entrie Betscher family on the deah of Wauneta. Always enjoy meeting and talking with John & Wauneta whereever we would meet – the last time at Eckert's in Belleville. She will be missed by many but so many great memories will remain for everyone who knew her. God bless and provide comfort and peace to each of you.

I am deeply saddened by the news. Wauneta, known as Dolly by the clan from Denver, was always a loving person and a great teacher with a great sense of humor and memorable hospitality. I cherish the moments that I had a chance to talk with her, and pray that you will get through these difficult times.
Josie sorry to hear about your mom I know its hard I lost my mom about 3 years ago
