Shirley E. Albert, age 75, of Smithboro, IL passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at 4:10 a.m. at her home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 10 a.m. at The Greenville First Christian Church. Burial will be in Noffsinger Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, August 3, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at The Greenville First Christian Church. Shirley was born October 25, 1939 in Highland, IL to Milton and Dolly (Ulmet) Willman. She married William "Bill" Albert on June 2, 1956 in Greenville, IL. She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Albert of Smithboro; her children, Carmen (Steve) Emerson of Edwardsville, IL, Carl (Jan) Albert of Mulberry Grove, IL, and Connie (Steve) Hamel of Greenville, IL; her grandchildren, Joseph (Kenley) Hamel, Isaac Hamel, Jaclyn Hamel, Joe Wright, Newt Albert, Lorri Albert, and Olivia Emerson; her great grandchildren, Cannon Hamel and Cullen Hamel; her sister, Rosemary (Melvin) Mollet of Georgetown, CA, and her brothers, Denny (Marilyn) Willman of Greenville and Ted Willman of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Thomas Willman, Roscoe Willman, Paul Willman and Hollie Willmann. She grew up in rural Greenville, and attended local one-room schools. Shirley and Bill moved to Campbell, CA after their marriage, and she graduated from high school there. She and Bill moved back to Greenville in 1957, and then to Pleasant Mound in 1970. She worked for 37 years in the Bond County Clerk's office, retiring in 2009. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and especially loved sitting around a campfire. She had a passion for quilting, embroidery, and crocheting. She was a member of the Black Diamond Quilt Guild, the Bond County Farm Bureau, and was a lifetime member of the Highland VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She attended The Pleasant Mound Baptist Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Bond County Hospice, Noffsinger Cemetery, The Pleasant Mound Baptist Church, The Greenville First Christian Church, or the donor's choice.

  4. Shirley was my Aunt and a very good one. She let me stay with her when I worked at the dime store on Friday evening and Saturday. A very special lady with such a joyous attitude and a beautiful smile. May she find peace now and suffer no more.

  5. Not sure if you remember us; I am Carole Barricklow's daughter. We will always remember your mom and her peach pies at the reunions. She was a great lady. We are sorry to have missed the services. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
