Mary L. Chappel, age 88, of Greenville passed away, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Greenville Regional Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial will be in Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas, IL. Friends may call Saturday, January 16, 2016 after 9 AM at St. Lawrence Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Lawrence Church or The Greenville Public Library. Mary was born on November 10, 1927 in Pocahontas, IL to Frank and Caroline (Curto) Lucco. She married William L. Chappel on December 28, 1948 in Greenville, IL. He died November 24, 2013. She is surivived by her son Ernie Chappel and his wife Tammy of Vandalia, IL, his daughters Gena Moore and her husband Jeff of Greenville and Cari Outman and her husband Jeff also of Greenville. She is also survived by her half brother Frank Lucco and his wife Debbie of Pocahontas, IL, twelve grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Cindy Chappel, her sister Theresa Nance, and two great grandsons Landen Tomko and Cooper Tomko. She grew up in Pocahontas and graduated from Pocahontas High School. She also attended and graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield. She worked as a registered nurse at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, at St Joseph's Hospital in Highland, IL, and as a private duty nurse. She worked for 25 years at Greenville Medical Associates. After she retired to volunteered at The Greenville Elementary School for 25 years. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

  2. Ernie, Gena & Cari, Thoughts and prayers are with you at thissad time. I have enjoyed knowing her and your Dad for many years and have a lot of good memories. She Was in St Louis Hospital at the same time my Husband Carroll was and even thos she was a patient too she was so helpful and caring to me at that time. I am in Texas for the winter and so won't be able to be with you this weekend but will be with you in my thoughts.
