Kent K. Kesner, age 57, of Greenville passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Greenville Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 1 PM at Young Funeral Home. Burial will be in Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas, IL. Friends may call Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 4-6 PM at Young Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Comets Sports Boosters. Kent was born October 7, 1958 in Highland, IL to James D. and Lovell M. (Brasel) Kesner. He is survived by his sister Kim (Don) Lugge of Pocahontas, IL., his niece Sabryna (Josh) Fahrney, his nephew Simon (Katy) Lugge, and his special friend Dianne Merritt of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Kent grew up and lived his entire life in Greenville. He graduated from Greenville High School and Greenville College. After college he attended The Broadcast Center in St. Louis. He worked at WGRN radio at Greenville College and then WSMI radio and was currently working at WGEL in Greenville where he was sports director and broadcast all the local sports. He also did the Swap Shop and Sports Center programs. He also drove a school bus for Bond County Unit #2 for over 20 years. He was very interested in history of The Civil War and WW II. He was member of the First United Methodist Church.

Kim and family, I am so shocked and saddened to hear the news about Kent. I am in Texas so will be unable to see and talk to you in person. The neighborhood will never be the same! Thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

Sorry to hear of Kent's passing. I enjoyed his broadcasts and know how much he loved sports and the Comets. Condolences to the Kesner family.

Kim and Family, My condolences. When I was a lowly freshman in high school "Sam" made me feel like I was somebody as we cruised around in his old white bomber. He always smiled when he talked to me. I remember our lip-sync group doing "Taking Care of Business" (one of his favorites) on an FMY retreat. When I saw him a couple of years ago after a long time between meetings he still had a smile and a joke for me. I will miss Sam, but I have very fond memories of our friendship. Go Comets!

I was very shocked when I heard Kent passed away. I worked with him at WGRN and WGEL. Great broadcaster. Hearing Comet games won't be the same.
