Obituary for Frances (Vaughn) Ulmer

Frances (Vaughn) Ulmer, 91, of Greenville, IL., entered eternal rest on July 10, 2021, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL. Cremation rights will be accorded, per the family’s request. A private graveside service will be held at Robinson Cemetery with the Rev. Darryl Bolen officiating. The family suggests memorials, in lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, to the DeMoulin Museum, 205 S. Prairie Street, Greenville, IL 62246.

Frances was born October 11, 1929, in Highland, IL to Clarence and Pearl (Motzer) Vaughn. She married Cecil Ulmer, whom she later divorced. She was known to be loving, caring, and energetic with her family being most important in her life. Being a lifelong resident of Greenville, she worked as a homemaker, raising her children, at the glove factory, in Highland, IL., and DeMoulin Brothers, for over 20 years, before retiring. She raised her children in 4H, found pleasure in compiling photo albums, flower gardening, sewing, and was known to be a list maker for anyone who walked through her door. In her early years, she attended the Smith Grove Baptist Church and then the Greenville First Christian Church.

Surviving Frances are her children: Sandy (Ed) Korte, Richard (Ramona) Ulmer, and Robin Eaton, all of Greenville, IL; grandchildren: Chad (Jennifer), Jeremy (Amy), Matt (Kim), Melanie (Duane), Brian (Crystal), Rachel, Cassandra, and Constance; 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren, with 2 on the way; a sister, Judy (Larry) Hooton, of St. Jacob, IL; a brother, Tony Vaughn, of Troy, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Tim Korte; two sisters, Betty Tischhauser and Dolly Licus; and two brothers, Gene Vaughn and David Vaughn.
