Dixie Wehrle

Dixie Wehrle, age 96, of Greenville, IL formerly of Mulberry Grove, IL passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Greenville Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 11, 2019 at 11 AM at Young Funeral Home. Burial will be in McInturff Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, October 11, 2019 after 9 AM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Vitas Hospice or The Greenville Nursing and Rehab Center Activities Department.

Dixie was born June 12, 1923 in Keyesport, IL to John and Mariam Melinda (Gaultney) Kesterson. She married Ivan Wehrle on March 25, 1950 in Osceola, Arkansas. She is survived by her daughters April Dolly (Mike Vaughn) of Vandalia, IL and Lisa (Marty) Koontz of Cape Girardeau, MO along with five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three children in infancy, Dixie Werhle, John Wehrle, and Ivan Wehrle along with her siblings Dewey Kesterson, Rose Guthrie, Paul Kesterson, Leonard Kesterson, Lillie Thompson, Fern Greimann Cusick, and John D. Kesterson.

She grew up in Keyesport and graduated from Keyesport schools. She lived in Chicago during WWII and moved to Mulberry Grove after her marriage. She operated Fashion Flair Fabrics in Mulberry Grove with her sisters for a while. The family lived for a time in Florida and then returned to Mulberry Grove. She moved to Greenville in 1989. She attended the Greenville First Christian Church.
