Charles V. Romani, Sr. passed away August 10, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center of Edwardsville, IL. He is survived by his children, Sharon (Jon) Finley of Leawood, KS, and Charles V. Romani, Jr. of Glen Carbon, IL. He is also survived by six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife J. Nadene (Jordan) Romani who he married on June 16, 1941 in St. Louis, MO. She died June 10, 1999. He is also preceded in death by two brothers Roy and Clayton Romani and a sister Ruby. Mr. Romani was reared in Panama and graduated from Hillsboro High School. He received his B.S. degree from Carthage College, his Master's degree from Bradley University, and advanced study from SIU-Carbondale and SIU-Edwardsville.He began his teaching career in 1939 at Panama. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 24, 1941. He graduated from Officer Training School on October 8, 1942. In October of 1943 he was promoted to Captain and Battery Commander. His division was sent to Europe and was in combat to 152 consecutive days participating in four major battles. He then served in the reserves and was promoted to Major. After the military he returned to to his career in education and served for 34 years in Bond Couty Schools. He served as Superintendent of Sorento Schools, Assistant Superintendent of Unit #2 Schools, and Unit #2 High School Principal retiing in 1977. He was member of the Greenville First United Methodist Church and V.F.W. Post #1377
