Carroll Wayne Hessenauer, age 70, of Greenville passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 3 PM at Young Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call Saturday, March 7, 2015 after 12 noon at the funeral home. Carroll was born November 29, 1944 in Highland, Illinois to Louis Wade and Wanda (Miller) Hessenauer. He married Carol Ann Hochuli on August 8, 1970 in Highland, IL. He is survived by his wife Carol, his children Carla A. (William "JR") Paradee of Greenville, Gary J. (Faye) Hessenauer of Greenville, and Jeffrey W. (Lynn) Hessenauer of Greenville, his sisters Sandy (Charlie) Barnes of Franklin, Kentucky and Candy Shaw of Greenville. He is also survived by his grandchildren Steven (Vanessa), Kyle (Sarah), Brittany, Aubrie, Grady, and Jacob along with a great granddaughter Elaina. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Wade Hessenauer. Carroll grew up in Old Ripley and Grantfork and graduated from Highland High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from September 1962 to November 1967 and received The Armed Services Expeditionary Medal. After the service he went to work for Rasler Plumbing in Greenville and then worked out of The Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 553 in East Alton until he retired in 2005. He enjoyed woodworking and restoring classic Thunderbirds. He made handcrafted guitars and enjoyed playing music. He was a member of The Greenville First Christian Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Greenville First Christian Church or The Lem Rhodes Cancer Foundation.

Carroll is now painfree and in paradise. He was often quiet, always a gentleman, and oh how much love and happiness and contentment showed when he was with his children and grandchildren…..but most of all, when he would look at his beautiful wife. We love you both, and your family will remain in our prayers and thoughts. We will always remember so many happy times. May God carry you, Carol, with strength and love.

I was proud to call Carroll my friend and neighbor. He was truly one of the good guys. Sorry we were out of town and could not come personally.
