Carl A. "Shorty" Barth, age 77, of rural Sorento passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11:49 PM at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11 AM at The Greenville First Christian Church. Interment will be in Reno Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 4-8 PM at The Greenville First Christian Church. Shorty was born January 13, 1938 in Tamalco to Albert A "Dutch" and Grace Lee (Dickson) Barth. He married Shirley Finke on March 30, 1957 in Greenville, IL. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Sorento, IL, his children Carla (Ron) Tischhauser of Greenville, Alan (Joni) Barth of Greenville, IL, and Denny (Lisa) Barth of Donnellson, IL, his grandchildren Rhonda (Dave) Bearley, Ryan (Alisha) Tischhauser, Alison (Nick) Suess, Ty Barth, Drew Barth, and Katelynne Barth, his great grandchildren Brooklynn Bearley, Carson Bearley, Adyson Bearley, and Rolen Tischhauser. His is also survived by his brothers and sisters Betty (Harry) Enloe of Keyesport, IL, Albert "Dick" (Joyce) Barth of Highland, IL, LeeRoy (Mary) Barth of Keyesport, IL, Carolyn Spradling of Greenville, IL, Louis (Carol) Barth of Greenville, IL, Marilyn Barth of Greenville, IL, and Maureen Freuh of Greenville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. He grew up in the Tamalco area and moved to Greenville after his marriage. He and his wife moved to rural Sorento in 1971 where he farmed. He served on the Southwest Electric Coop board of directors for almost 30 years and had also served as a Democratic Precinct Committeeman. He was a member of the Greenville First Christian Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Greenville First Christian Church or The Reno Bethel Cemetery.
