Obituary for Betty J. Hinton

Betty J. Hinton, age 91, of Greenville passed away, Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Helia Healthcare. There will be a Celebration of Her Life on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 11 AM at The Greenville First Christian Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to The Greenville Regional Hospital Gift Shop or Bond County Hospice.

Betty was born May 1, 1924 in West Frankfort, IL to Virgil and Ruth E. (Rambo) Clancy. She married James S. Hinton III on November 9, 1953 in Hernando, MS. He died February 2, 1981. She is survived by her sons James S. Hinton IV and his wife Linda of Barling, AK and Michael V. Hinton and his wife Carmen of Albuquerque, NM, along with two grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister Alice Irene Mozzochi, and a brother Irvin Clancy, and a granddaughter Jennifer Hinton.

Betty moved to Greenville in 1981 following the death of her husband. She was a member of The Greenville First Christian Church. She served as Ladies Auxiliary Chairman at the church and was also active in The Jesus and Me Program at the church. She was also a member of The Greenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary and was The Gift Shop Manager/Buyer. She was active in The Holiday Bazaar Wreath Committee and served as a volunteer for The Annual Health Fair.
