Bessie M. Baumberger

Bessie M. Baumberger passed away at Helia Health Care at the age of 90. She is survived by her husband Fred Baumberger, her daughter Baetty (Delbert) Quick, her son William (Mary) Zobrist, her step daughters Sue (Everett) Freebert and Jane (Gary) Nettzler, her step son Craig Baumberger, her sisters Velma (Lee) Turner, Patricia (Richard) Wissler, Bonnie Coons, and Betty Jean (Robert) Masters, her brothers Douglas (Shiela) Young, Ernest Young, David Young, and Donald Young. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, adn two great great grandchildren. She was born December 29, 1923 in Bond County to Joseph A and Florence H. (Smith) Young. She married Herbert H. "Boots" Zobrist on January 24, 1944 in Sullivan, MO. He died December 13, 1967. She then married Fred Baumberger on December 30, 1978 in Reno, IL. He survives. She grew up in the Terrapin Ridge area. She worked at a small arms manufacturing plant in St. Louis during WWII and later worked for Brown Shoe Company in St. Louis. She managed rental property for Korte Construction Company and also had worked as a receptionist for Dr. Althardt in Greenville. She had also worked for Greenville Regional Hospital for a while.She was member of Reno Bethel Presbyterian Church and Greenville Hospital Auxiliary. Memorial contributions are suggested to Greenville Regional Hospital or Helia Healthcare Activities Department.

Our sympathy to all of the family. I am Gene's daughter and we love our "aunt Patty". I know mom/dad Don and Betty would see Bessie Mae occasionally in Greenville. Patty- my love to you–she is a beautiful lady and I can tell you are sisters!:). Dawn
My sympathy and prayers to the family. Growing up on the farm, we were "across the creek" neighbors as well involved for many years in 4-H. She was a wonderful neighbor and good friends with our Mom. Peace and comfort and as the plaque friends gave to me upon our Mom's death stated "ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS"
I am Don Zobrist's daughter and I have so many wonderful memories of time on the farm visiting Boots and Bessie Mae……she was a sweet person. My sympathy to all of the family.
We just learned of Bessie's death and want to extend our sincere sympathy to her family. We have so many happy memories of this lovely lady, not the least of which is her dashing down the street in the middle of the night to stay with our two year old while we drove to the hospital to have our second baby. She was a wonderful worker, a kind friend and will be missed.
We dearly loved Bessie. We got to know Fred and Bessie when they built their new house on Spring Street. They were great neighbors. We always enjoyed the fact that if Bessie had any more flower gardens in the yard, Fred could have mowed with a weed-eater. They were Caroline's next-door grandparents. God bless.
