Agnes M. Meyer

Agnes M. Meyer, age 95 of Smithboro, IL passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Holy Family E.R., Greenville, IL. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Greenville, IL on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 10 am. Visitation will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 5 pm. to 7 pm. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Greenville, IL.

Agnes was born on August 1, 1921, in Pierron, IL to Emil Mollet and Ida Essenpreis Mollet. She married Eldon J. Meyer, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Greenville, IL.

She is survived by: Her daughters, Ruth (Barry) Dixon of Carlyle, IL; Judy Papendorf (John) of Lombard, IL; Sharon Brewer of Pleasant Mound; Cindy (Brian) Braun of Collinsville, IL; son, Dennis (Susan) Meyer of O'Fallon, IL; her sister Leona Kersch of Greenville: and son in law, Jim Ackerman of Bluford, IL. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Meyer; daughter, Shirley Ackerman; daughter in law, Barbara Meyer; brother in law, Kenneth Kersch; brothers: Elmer, Raymond, Fremont, Melvin, Earl, and Laurel Mollett; and sisters: Henrietta Kapp and Dorothy Bird.


Agnes attended a Pocahontas one room school until the 8th grade. She was a homemaker and cleaned houses. She loved her family, was a gardener, and a very good cook. She volunteered at church funeral dinners, chicken dinners and numerous other activities.
