Ermal W. Johnston, age 83, of Greenville, IL, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 in Branson, Missouri. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11 am at Wisetown Baptist Church. Friends may call Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 10 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Wisetown Baptist Church, Bond County Hospice, and/or the Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Fund.

Ermal was born November 24, 1934 in Clinton county to William E. and Opal Elizabeth Nordike Johnston. He married Betty Ann Sugg on January 19, 1954 in Hernando, MS. He is survived by two daughters: Tina (Warren) Dick of Athens, IL and Tammy (Scott Hulvey) Creasy of Greenville, IL; brothers William Elmer Johnston of Greenville, IL and Doug (Lucy) Johnston of Millstadt, IL; sisters Joann (Bob) Beitel of St. Louis, Mo and Sandy (Greg) Reynolds of New Berlin. IL. Four grandchildren: David Dick, Daniel (Jayann) Dick, Christina (Don) Anders, Ashley Rogers; and three great grandchildren: Zachary Dick, Justin Anders and Cynthia Rogers.

He grew up in Keyesport, Illinois attended Keyesport grade schools, then moved to the family farm south of Greenville, and graduated from Greenville High School. After high school, he worked at the Ford plant, as a supervisor for Alton Box Board, was a life-long farmer and a member of the Wisetown Baptist Church. He served two years in the United States Army being based out of Fort Sill, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Terry Johnston; and a grandson, Chad Michael Creasy.
